Leon Wesley grew up with a Professional Musician Father who played Trumpet, and Tenor Saxaphone. His father was his role model who inspired him to study the Trumpet. While growing up Leon met many great Jazz Musicians who visited their home. Such as Charlie "Yard Bird" Parker", Roy Milton, Howard McGhee, Sonny Stitt, Dexter Gordon, Wardell Gray, Bill Hadnott, Big Jay McNeeley, Rudy Pitts, Dizzy Gillespie, Geechie Smith, Johnny Otis, Nat King Cole, Teddy Buckner, Teddy Edwards, Illinois Jacquet, and Lionel Hamilton, In later years he met Bobby Bradford a Music Teacher at Pasadena College. While studying Jazz Theory, and playing In Mr. Bradford's Jazz Improvisation Classes he moved into his present direction of performing BeBop And Straight Ahead Jazz. Leon's present direction proviides him the time and opportunity to help aspiring students who are interested in learning to play jazz. Leon and Jazztet Member Willis "Bill" Bradford were recognized by The Blue Note Clubs. Their pictures were placed on permanent display inside each Club's Photo Gallery alongside many other Jazz Legend's photos. The Blue Note Clubs are located in New York City, Tokyo Japan,Osaka Japan, and Hawaii. Leon currently performs within California with his Leon Wesley Jazztet.
